Welcome to the Dollars Traded Index The Dollars Traded Index is actually three lists of public companies on the NYSE and NASDAQ. Every day about 7,000 listed companies are ranked based on the number of dollars traded over the last quarter (dollars traded is defined as the closing price times the number of shares traded). Only the top 1,900 consistently high ranked companies make the three lists. The three lists are the Top400 followed by the Next600 followed by the Last900. There are many reports available on the site and all of the data is posted as messages on the forums because everyone is invited to comment on the data, the companies or the trends they spot. Guests are welcome to access and read everything, but I want to encourage you to register so that you may also create posts or reply to any current thread. The Dollars Traded Index is very good at highlighting companies that are deserving of attention, whether it is because the company had some news worthy information recently come out about it or there is a longer term trend at play. It is also extremely good for spotting trends of activity around stocks, which can make it very useful for finding diamonds in the rough (undiscovered small cap stocks that may be soon getting a lot more attention). If you are new to the site you might want to check out an explanation of the content that can be found here. Or check out a list of my favorite ways to use the site to find news worthy stocks or strongly trending stocks. You may also be interested to read about the methodology of the Dollars Traded Index. |
